Are you considering purchasing a telescope for the holidays, but you’re not sure where to start?

Join the astronomy team at Yerkes Observatory on Thursday, November 20 from 6pm to 7:30pm for an introduction to telescopes! This event is perfect for beginners, families, or anyone looking to purchase a telescope or other observing tool.

We’ll cover the basics of telescopes, what to look for when deciding to buy a telescope, and provide recommendations for purchasing. Plus, we’ll share plenty of tips, tricks, and resources to help you make the most of your telescope! If the skies are clear, we will also have a chance to observe using different small telescopes on the observatory’s South lawn. We recommend this workshop for people that have not yet bought a telescope or are looking for recommendations on a new one. Please do not bring any telescopes with you for this event.
