Morgan House Restoration

Spring is here and Morgan House is nearly ready to greet our first guests!

Over the past year, Yerkes Future Foundation has been working on the renovation of Morgan House. The home, located near the observatory, was built in 1897 and was originally used as a faculty residence. Including, William Wilson Morgan who worked at the observatory for over 60 years and made significant contributions to the field of astronomy. Its purpose now is to house our future residents.

Once completed, Morgan House will host world class scientists, authors, composers and artists who come to Yerkes to work and study.  Our team has taken great care to preserve the original charm of the house while also providing our guests with all the benefits of a modern and well-appointed home.

Thanks to the generosity of individuals and small businesses in the community, we have acquired most of the furniture and fixtures for the house. We are now ready to begin outfitting it with the necessities to make it functional and the special touches that will make it feel like home.
