Y.O. Speaker Series: Family-Friendly Astronomy with Dean Regas
This family-friendly evening is hosted by Dean Regas, the acclaimed astronomer, educator, author, expert in observational astronomy, and national popularizer of astronomy. For ten years, Dean was the co-host of the PBS program Star Gazers. Don’t miss the chance to see him at Yerkes on Thursday, July 24th at 6pm!
Dean is the author of six books including 1000 Facts About Space and How to Teach Grown-Ups About Pluto. He has contributed articles to the magazines Sky and Telescope and Astronomy, where he won the Out-of-this-World Award for astronomy education. He has written over 160 astronomy articles for publications such as the Cincinnati Enquirer and The Farmer’s Almanac and has blogged for the Huffington Post. He is a frequent guest on National Public Radio’s Science Friday with host Ira Flatow and NPR’s Here & Now. He is also the creator and host of the popular astronomy podcast called Looking Up with Dean Regas.
Dean has developed his skills as a dynamic writer and public speaker who brings the complicated field of astronomy down to Earth for students of all ages.
