Bird Walk at Yerkes

Kevin Dickey, chapter president of the Lakeland Audubon Society and local birding legend, will be leading a migratory bird walk in the Olmsted Arboretum at Yerkes. This is a family-friendly and FREE event to kick off spring and our warm weather season on Saturday, May 2nd from 8-9:30am. While the event is free, we ask that attendees register in advance to help us plan for group size. You can bring binoculars, water bottles, sturdy shoes, and a birding guide if you’d like. Park in Yerkes main lot, then meet at the South Lawn (lakeside) entry door.

Lakeland Audubon Society is a chapter of the National Audubon Society that functions as an independent non-profit organization. Their mission is to support the Audubon Society’s programs while providing educational opportunities. They strive to accomplish this mission by donating Audubon Adventure kits to local elementary schools and by having speakers at their  monthly meetings which cover a variety of nature related subjects. Their chapter is based out of Elkhorn, serving residents of Walworth County and the surrounding areas.

The National Audubon Society’s mission is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth’s biological diversity. Audubon has a national network of community-based nature centers and chapters, scientific and educational programs, and advocacy on behalf of areas sustaining important bird populations. They engage millions of people of all ages and backgrounds in positive, conservation experiences.
