The goal of the Yerkes Future Foundation is to ensure Yerkes continues to advance astronomy and to transform the Observatory and its grounds into a destination for science and discovery.

Positions Open:

The Administrative Assistant for Development (AAD) is responsible for a variety of important tasks and administrative projects at the Observatory. For more information about this position, click here.

The Outreach Educator is responsible for developing and running educational programming for students and visitors of all ages and backgrounds. They enthusiastically engage with visitors from around the world. For more information about this position, click here.

The Horticulture Lead is responsible for leading the planting, care, presentation and overall health and quality of the historic fifty-acre landscape at Yerkes, a certified arboretum. They design and care for plantings, floriculture and horticulture and are the lead for overall landscape planning and care, working in concert with the Facilities and Grounds Supervisor. The Outreach Assistant is responsible for operating various telescopes at Yerkes Observatory, including the 125-year-old Great Refractor – the largest refracting telescope in the world. They run programs that show telescope views of astronomical objects for the public and students and engage with visitors from around the world on topics of general astronomy and the history of the Observatory. The Tour Guide & Programs Assistant is responsible for giving tours, working in the gift shop, and assisting during programs and events. The off-season responsibilities will also involve planning programs and readying spaces for future use. For more information about this position, click here.
